Rafael Viñoly Architects, an internationally renowned architecture firm, needed a sophisticated website to complement its position as a global leader in architecture. A key challenge of this project was to develop a navigation system that enables the user to access many levels of complex and extensive content. Not only does the firm’s portfolio span myriad building types and geographies—each of the firm’s numerous projects also has rich content in various mediums, including photography, sketches, and videos.

Leandra Tidwell, working with creative director Rocco Piscatello and the team at Piscatello Design Centre, designed a website that showcases the firm’s portfolio and provides an important marketing tool for the firm. The team led a strategic process that delved deep into the philosophy of the firm to identify core values and goals. After developing a detailed sitemap, we determined that the site could be best organized into two main sections: Work and Practice. The team led content strategy sessions and helped develop an expertise section to showcase Viñoly’s areas of specialization. A unique feature of this website is the incorporation of multi-lingual content. The team’s work included developing the content management system and designing the pages to adapt to the different language requirements and typefaces. This content management system enables Viñoly to maintain, update, and edit the website.
